Hey aw! I am looking to trade my yellow '59 fridge.  I need a fridge to fit into my period kitchen, which is only 69" clear height.  I would really love to have one with the bottom freezer (i can dream, right?) unit since I am 6'4" , leaning over to get a snack is annoying.

Anyways, if you wanna trade or barter, lets talk.  I have a truck and can help within in reason.

If you don't have what I'm looking for and really want this, I will take any working fridge of a vintage nature.

Its free to any AW member.  Also the pics are from the day two years ago that I rescued it at a job site.  It had five minutes before the dumpster crusher.  I've used it in my basement since then, and its missing the door parts and the veggie tray.  I know, it aint pristine but it is certainly good working and cool.

Lets wheel and deal.  I love this site.

Oh, I'd like to have one like that, it wouldn't almost match my white 1959 range! I don't have anything to trade for it but if you're interested in selling it, let me know!

AtomicT - I've never seen that either - hope you will consider other options for interested aw.org members. Thanks for posting - with good photos.

I'd be interested as well, but don't have any appliances to trade.  Fridges in that color don't pop up often.  We have a stove in this color and I've been looking for a while for a frost-proof Frigidaire to match.

Ok, lets try this....

Well there seems to be some interest, but no trades.  How about a c-note? And I'll throw in some elbow grease and a few beers and a sandwich, a little chit chat and war stories while we load it up?

Phil, thank you!  I've been scouring for over a year in search of a sunny yellow fridge.  The thing that kills me is that I've seen several Frigidaires in varying colors at our dump, but they have a strict no picking rule, so those were out.  I suspect most of them worked or needed only minor stuff, but they've gone to the scrapyard in the sky (or been made into a Kia).

What ever happened to this fridge? I have the stove that matches it. It's lemon yellow with french doors, and has that scrolly panel at the bottom. (1959)
We had the fridge for a while, too, but I think my mom got rid of it because it was too noisy! However the stove survived in my garage for the past several decades and now I can finally afford to get it rehabbed and into my kitchen.
Question - can the old refrigerators be restored? Are they terribly energy-inefficient?

It'll be replacing our 1 year old GE fridge.  I've been looking for a bit for a sunny yellow fridge; we've had nothing but problems with the GE.  Out of the crate it needed a repair.  I'll take some energy inefficiency because a) that fridge is a work of art and b) at 55 it appears to be working better than our 1 year old GE.

Still available! Free! Going to curb this weekend

Guys and gals, the fridge in this post is still here and running. I am moving it out this weekend.  Someone please come and take it and give it an extended life!!

Please come and take it.  FREE.  I will help you load it.

Ken, please save it, I already have one just like it! Tony, if for any reason you can't get rid of it, I'd be interested to buy a few easy to remove parts from it like the freezer baskets.

Mine also has an incorrect white decorative panel on the door...
