Hi Guys! I am looking for a washing machine that my grandmother used to have and that I remember so vividly as a kid. A 1962 Frigidaire WDA-62 "Baby Care Washer". This was the least expensive Frigidaire model washer of the early 60's, with 5 different models offered in 1961-1962. It would be awesome to have this exact model but I would consider any early 60's 3-ring agitator model by Frigidaire. If any of you know where I might be able to obtain one of these, (any condition ... within reason) please let me know!! The center machine in the 3rd picture is the exact machine I am looking for. ALSO, if you know of a matching(ish) model dryer, I would be interested in that as well. Thanks for your help. Bud Welborn, Atlanta, GA [email protected]

I have the matching dryer for that washer, a DDAC-62, I think a member might have the WDA-62 washer, I forgot who but I think he's not that far from you!

Dad Gum! Within 30 mins

Within 30 minutes 3 replies so far, Wow! As for why called Baby Washer question, this model had a separate SOAK switch that allowed for really dirty items to soak. Also being the entry model and least expensive, Frigidaire marketed this model to families where money most likely was tight because of a new baby.

I recognize that photo inside the truck. PeterH and I loaded all those machines from a warehouse in the sweltering jungle of a small town in South Georgia many years ago. Filthy with years of bird and rodent droppings and infested with large venomous spiders darting in and out of everything. It was brutal. What we left behind for the krusher was criminal, but we did the best we could. We would have used about six more of those trucks and four other people to help! Four of the machines in that photo reside in my house, including the three Frigidaires in the middle and the Whirly Timeline in the left rear of the photo.
Bud, I will be in touch with you soon.

Steven, if you mean the dryer in the photos I posted, this is a Canadian dryer that I got with Paul near Ottawa in Ontario a few years ago. It's not exactly like the US-made DDA-62 dryers as it has a heat selector. The US model didn't have that.

I also have a similar washer (also a Canadian model) that I got from Paul but it's from 1963. And I have a 1960 Deluxe washer.

Here are two videos of the 1960, I fixed a few things on it but it needs more.

"Diaper Washer"

Is slang for a Bol model. Back when babies used cloth diapers the Bol was the best a lot of new families could afford. Frigidaires were great diaper washers, especially a handed down Unimatic for those without the luxury of a dryer.

The '62 models benefitted from the larger tub size.
