1960 s? Dishwasher

I recently moved in to a home built in 1964. I believe all the appliances are original and I would like to keep them. Everting works great and I think they fit the home. I was hoping to get some more info on them I need a part for the dishwasher. I think it’s called the lower spray tower?
I googled the model number with no luck ,found this sit and thought it was cool. Any info is much appreciated.

That ubiquitous early '60s tile is in great shape! 

 

Your cook top, oven and dishwasher are a matched set in GE's "Woodtone Brown" color option.  There was likely a Woodtone Brown refrigerator included in that suite, possibly a bottom freezer model with refrigerator shelves that swung out for easy access to contents.

 

If you can post a picture of the dishwasher interior, the experts here will likely be able to tell you what you need.

This is a BOL GE dishwasher. Did the job although, at the time, CU was none too complementary. We had one like this and it was, as me poor sainted Mother would say, perfectly fine (which isn't any indicator because she washed all the dishes before they went into the machine).

CU

Consumers Union. Just like other independent testing organizations (Cnet for one) they tested all sorts of things, including home appliances, and usually found them badly wanting in common sense useability.

Back when CU did a better job than now

When GE front loading dishwashers reappeared in 1962 (replacing their exquisitely engineered and built like tanks tanks), CU pointed out and seriously down-rated them because the tines on the sides of their cheesy upper racks didn't protect the stems on stemmed crystal and glassware from banging on the sides of the tank and breaking. GE addressed this immediately by extending those verticle tines about 4 inches and those upper racks, which were always kind of lame, stayed that way for decades as did their even cheesier bottom racks.

Welcome to the site, Evan!  That's a nice set of GE appliances!  I have the 1963 version of the dishwasher but in turquoise.

Could you post a picture of the part you need?  An original replacement part may  be out there somewhere...

Good news

That's the tower of the Power Tower. I see those for sale on eBay all the time. You could also try Lorain Furniture Appliance Parts, a member here.

 

Do a search for Vintage GE Dishwasher parts.

 

It would be helpful to have the part number but they stayed the same part for over 15 years. They hand-screw easily in and out of the wash arm. Check the AW Ephemera Library to see if there's a parts breakdown manual for GE Front-Loading dishwashers made between 1965 and 1980. I have such a manual but it's for GE Pull-out dishwashers that used a different water system.

 

You might also find a member here who happens to have one of those floating around the hoard. I have the Maytag version of that part but it wouldn't fit your GE.

64 GE dishwasher

Excuse me for popping in here but this brings back memories. 2 neighbors had this same DW in same color. Unfortunately neither had the built in range. This will make a nice GE kitchen. Hope you do find a matching fridge from that time if you want to.
