Whirlpool Edged Sapphire Blue

That range is beautiful! It's actually not from 1960, but from '67 or '68, as that color was only offered for a very short time. I think Kenmore called the shade "Slate Blue". This is the same color as the Whirlpool washer Melvin (SupremeWhirlpool) had and modified. I remember seeing a Whirlpool refrigerator on the sales floor at Swallen's in this color.

Did Kenmore actually ever offer this color?

I have never seen it even in a catalog, but I could have simply missed it.

John had another blue Whirlpool undergoing restoration when were were in Baltimore a few weekends back.

Cool range! I have often wondered why some of these had a separate oven on the side while others just had storage. I would prefer the small extra oven....

Kenmore "Shaded Slate"

Hey Gordon,

Yes, Sears did offer this color for a very short time, along with the "Shaded Doeskin" color. I can't access my catalogs now as they are in storage, but I'm almost certain I remember seeing them in a 1967 catalog. The only proof I can come up with at this time is in a posting from earlier this year showing Kenmore dishwashers. Check the Imperial archives for Thread #32804, Post #494284, Reply #8. It shows a sample of this color.

I also remember discussing this color with the attendent at the washateria. She used to work in the Sear's parts dept. in the late 60's - 70's, and said she remembered such a color.
