Hi folks. I rescue this little cutie from the scrap heap and thought that someone would love it. I'm not a collector myself but would be happy to sell it to someone who is. I'm in the Detroit area and can do local drop off or a little further for a fee. I've got it on eBay auction now but I'm not really sure if this is a fair price so feel free to make me an offer if this is something that you enjoy. It works as far as turning on and making noise but I don't really know how to work these so I haven't seen if it'll actually wash. Also if you guys have any fun facts about this model or anything else to share please feel free. I have noticed a few that were very similar on the forums and that's why I guess it's from the 1960s.

Looks like it was built the 25 week of 1964. The exterior seems to be in good condition. Plugging it in and hearing a noise is not a good description of the machine as working. The person who would be interested in this washer most likely would want it to operate the way it was intended. Price wise it’s worth what someone is willing to pay and every market is different. I’m glad you saved it and hopefully someone will be interested in keeping it going. Thanks for posting here.

there are plenty of vids on Youtube of how to operate a wringer machine....

turning it on and it makes a noise = unknown or non-working condition is the proper term....

and at that point, it is really only scrap value.....in my area, that would venture around 4 to 6.00....1.50 more if you scrap the motor separately

most wringers, unless fully reconditioned, only go for 25.00 to 100.00....as you have noticed on ebay, there are tons of machine listed for 200.00+, and still being listed for years.....

its a buyers market....its value is only what someone is willing to pay for it.....

good luck in your adventure.....

Thanks

Hi thanks for some of your input. No thanks for the passive aggressive comment but the sentiment is heard and I will post some pictures of the inside for ebay. I will probably just take it to the scrap heap as I don't have time to restore it, if no one responds in the next few months. Like I said I just thought it was a cool piece from first look and don't really care to make more money off of it than what it cost me in time to rescue it. Just thought it was cool and wanted to share with you guys, maybe get some advice. I thought it was a good sign that at least the electric worked. But I don't have the time as I'm a full-time medical student, or the desire to learn how to work it. Thanks again. And if any of you are in the Western Michigan area and do want it feel free to reach out. It will be living in my garage until I move.

Nici,

From your photos this Kenmore Wringer looks to have been well cared for before it was put out of service and stored. The real problem for a potential buyer would be the lack of any replacement parts if for some reason it isn’t working properly.

The only way to tell it it does work is to fill it up with water and put it thru it’s paces. The wringer, tub and agitator all look to be in good condition. If it does agitate, drain, doesn’t leak and if the wringer works then you should be able to get WAY more than $25.00.

There has to be someone out there that would love to acquire this Kenmore Wringer as a new toy, or better yet daily driver. When I was a teen in the 60’s the neighbor lady that was like a second mother to me had one like this and she loved it. I learned how to use a wringer washer by watching Bev do her families laundry in that Kenmore. Then I talked my Mom into getting us a new Maytag Wringer for our home.

I wish you good luck in finding a new owner and home for this bit of history.

Eddie
