Hoping roto204/Nate sees this. DIRT cheap for one of these. Clearly needs new door gaskets....and pink isn't for everyone....but this could be SO worth having!

If this was a bottom freeze...

I'd be all over it myself. I love my '63 Imperial bottom freeze...but wish it had the door hinges on the opposite side....

Although...I could totally do a pink kitchen.  Or charcoal.  Basically any of the Frigidaire colors from the late 50s/early 60s.  And if they're from the Sheer Look line...bonus!

....tho' it means you'd probably have to paint the stuff to accomplish it. Cannot remember the last time I saw a charcoal Frigidaire refrigerator. A '58 would be IDEAL BTW--Is the GE running right yet for you?

The GE runs for about a week with no issues and then the temps go all wonky; I suspect it's the 50+ years of grime underneath, as once I cleaned it a bit, it massively improved.  I've had to stop work on it momentarily to prepare for the big holiday next week and to also work on a certain feisty Maytag washer that decided to act up after I returned from England...

 

I've seen ONE charcoal fridge on eBay; it never sold and was kind of beat up.  There's a guy in Indiana who does reporcelaining; if I could get a sample, I could have it recreated for the stove and just paint a fridge to match.  That charcoal is sexy.

I recognize the yellow jacket trap on the bottom door shelf, but what is that skewered affair on the top shelf in the cabinet?

 

This fridge doesn't appear to be frost free.  I wouldn't be willing to deal with that inconvenience on my daily driver, but Nate might.  The doors are hinged on the wrong side for optimum convenience in his kitchen as well, but that might possibly be a tolerable trade-off for a pink Frigidaire.

 

I think not being plug & play is a likely deal-breaker, and there's no telling what may become of Modern Parts as a result of Larry's passing, so tending to the gasket(s) and the "sprung" door may not be easy.

Awhile back, Nate had mentioned preference for manual defrost in a vintage unit. Not sure if that is still the case ...or if he's even looking for a fridge at this time or not.

I just figured that for $50 and a relatively near location, it could be a good deal. BTW--I have plenty of white door gasket here which just might fix that problem on the pink Frigidaire.

Thank you for thinking of me--I mulled this one over.  Not sure what they mean about the door being "sprung," though.  Maybe a FUBAR hinge?

 

It's a cutie.  Gaskets don't scare me, and yes, I actually would like to find one with manual defrost.

 

But yes, the doors swing the wrong way, and unless they're easy to reverse, that would be a super PITA for our kitchen.

 

I'll have to ponder some more.

Nate--sprung door may not be

how it sounds. My '63 has that problem with the bottom freezer door. It is not the hinge (on mine, anyway). It is due to the gasket being as bad as the one on the pink unit in the CL ad.

Of course, this guy's fridge might actually have hinge problems...dunno. Just thought you might find it worth considering as it is relatively near you. I believe you would be stuck with door swing as it is. These era Frigidaire cannot be reversed--you had to buy them configured one way or the other...silly but true.

There's no need to search further to explain the problem causing the door to open by itself! The gaskets are hanging so low that they don't allow the door to close...
