The 8" selectable coil SensiTemp burner will warm up (only) on any of the 4, 6, or 8" button settings, but not enough to cook anything, no matter where the temperature dial is set. I'm guessing that these SensiTemp units were not the fluid type that earlier models were? Conversion to regular control would depend on finding the button unit and other parts and altering the circuit, so we'd prefer if possible to retain the original design. any thoughts?

Hi Roger, test te sensor resistance, it should be about 10 ohms f the leads are white and 17.5 if it has yellow leads, a bad sensor will make it behave like this.

I probably have the push-button switch if you want to convert to a 5 heat element, you would also need to change the element or if your range uses a dial to set the temperature you can use an infinite sw and keep the 3 size element.

thanks for that info John...

much appreciated!

It has the Sensi-Temp buttons on top: Off, 4, 6, 8" and Grille.
And does have the infinite dial for setting it's temps up to 500, plus "boil" settings: H, M, L, S.

I'l dig out the DMM.
If the sensor is bad there any hope of repairing it, or finding that ancient part?

If not, am OK with converting it either using the existing dial if do-able, or to 5 buttons it has large white "piano key" type buttons.

I have a late 1960s HP 30" RB528 parts range with a good 8" CalRod unit.

We use the large 8" front unit most of all, so getting that working, one way or another, is Job 1.

This is the Red J-304V we have at camp in VT... we're up there for now.
Thanks again!
