My refrigerator started acting up in March, right before the pandemic began. I had the repairman out and he determined the defrost timer was bad and the kit he wanted to install was $800. After putting nearly $2k into the fridge in repairs, I decided to find the defrost timer myself. Anyway, it limped along for a few months until I found a NOS GE original part on eBay. I installed it myself, adjusted it for altitude (5700 feet) per my service manual. Unfortunately, I could not get the fridge to cool. Neither the fan in the freezer or the refrigerator would turn on. It just stayed in defrost mode. Today, I had my repairman out to see what the problem is. After testing everything, he deduced the part I purchased is bad. I am probably not going to be able to find another part anytime soon as I searched eBay for this part for months, and we desperately need our fridge to work. Is there another compatible part that will work with my fridge? I have included a photo of the defrost timer. Thanks! [this post was last edited: 7/30/2020-18:15]

1962 GE Spacemaker

The 1962 GE fridge and I are parting ways after three years. I cannot keep it repaired, which is unfortunate. I was so, so excited to have found this beautiful fridge, but I think it needs a home with someone who has the expertise to repair it themselves.
