1962 Maytag bleach dispenser seal question

To temper the good news on the Maytag dryer the ‘61 or ‘62 Washer is currently having an issue that we have yet to be able to fix. The seal on the bleach dispenser was absolutely shot, and we’ve bought and created a couple of O-rings, slipped a rubber rand around the indentation underneath the o-ring and during the spin cycle it, it can’t keep the water from puking out around the seal. Anyone have any recommendations for a seal/ring to solve this problem?

I would just seal the lid with old O ring in place a small bead of clear silicone sealant, there is no reason that would ever have to remove the lid in the future anyway, or you could replace the reservoir with the newer updated design that is one piece with no seal to fail.
