Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Oxymoron

It strikes me odd that the majority of colored Maytag washers are not the TOL models. Somehow the color pales on the unlighted console.

I am going to tell a polically offensive, racist joke from my child hood. This is your chance to jump off the train before every sensibility is offended. My dad told this joke when I was a teenager. I was mesmerized by my abusive, supermacho dad telling a washing machine joke.

Martin Luther King makes an appointment to see the President of the Maytag company. Doctor Luther begins, "I am upset with the Maytag company. You offer washing machines in white, yellow, pink and brown but you do not offer washing machines in black and I want an explanation." The president of Maytag replies, "My good fellow, have you ever lifted the lid to see the black agitators?"

Unbelievable....

I looked at this set last summer when they were still in Portland. At the time the seller wanted $450.00. The transmission needed a rebuild as it leaked oil big time. I was still considering them because of the color but then in the same week found a harvest gold set for only $50.00 that were in better shape, so I passed on these.

I'm not sure why he now thinks they are worth $2200.00

I think I also dated them to be 1968 models.

Are my eyes deceiving me?

Nice set - outrageous price. Perhaps the Smithsonian will be interested. ;-)

BTW - are these sudsavers?

Retromom

The washer was not a sudsaver. It only had the one drainhose.

I agree with Kelly, if they were the lighted consoles I would have been more interested. The painted metal surround (not even chrome) on the washer was even a little eaten away. Otherwise the color itself was beautiful.
