1965-66 Kenmore Turquoise Dryer Motor Repair

Scott and I have torn the dryer completely down, two times....removed drum and replaced belt and pulley assembly. Completely cleaned the dryer all parts inside, found out that this dryer has a fan attached to motor shaft at the back area...the blower is motor driven.....front area runs belt and pulley. We need to know if the motor can be removed with this fan unit and how is it attached to this unit...enclosed in vent system at rear...Motor is humming and not turning....Heat element has been replaced.....everything is green light go except drum still will not turn and when start button is pushed it just hums....Motor is original and we have a motor rebuild near us...Can it be removed ? Is what Scott wants to Know?

yes

the fan impeller is threaded onto the motor shaft-to remove them i clamp
a large vicegrips on the non-grooved part of the pulley so the vicegrips
braces against the bottom of the dryer,then i rotate the fan clockwise
(facing the fan from rear of dryer)so far i haven't run into any that
were too stubborn...
the motor might only need a good cleaning of the centrifugal mechanism
or switch contacts.BTW what brand of motor is in yours-i have fixed quite
a few of the motors.

repair of motor 1965-66 Dryer

I will pass on the info to Scott, due to his work schedule....we will tackle this over the weekend, will inform you as the type of motor, have no idea....still hanging clothes in basement, very tired....the towels are like cardboard and feel the same, horrible to be without a dryer, but last resort is to purchase used one, but will hang onto this one...grew up with it. It has sentimental value to me and looks like it is new....tons of chrome and lights....thanks for your help, will be in touch. Finally, this has proven to be a trial and error repair....will talk to Scott tomorrow and he had some concerns about the enclosed fan unit and its removal also.
