Kenmore/ISE disposal dead?

Help Support :

Had to replace a builders grade GE disposal recently because of rust in the interior chamber. Actually this was the 2nd one in 12 years to change out because of rust. Went with ISE advance series. That lasted less that 2 weeks, noticed things were wet under the sink cabinet. Had the installer come over and check it out. Pulled unit out and took the top casing off and found a pin hole at the top of the chamber where the water was coming out of. It was high enough that the dishwasher draining into it that it didn't leak. Once water was running and unit was running it would splash the water high enough to reach the hole and drip down the outside of the chamber and leak out of the bottom of the motor. Called ISE and they sent me out another one. Installed that one and no leaks. They said that I could send the old one back to verify that it was a defect and they would send me a check for the installation. Got tired of all this and gave it to a friend who needs a new one and he will have a friend maybe tak weld it or find another way to block the pin hole.

pinhole

So sorry to hear that about your disposal, Jon. One wouldn't expect that to occur in a new machine. Your friend can just use a metal infused epoxy such as JB-Weld over the pinhole, and be fine.[this post was last edited: 5/25/2024-14:53]

ISE Engineer

He came and took the disposer out tried to move it with the hex key and declared it BER and as it was the bearing that had failed he put in a brand new one out the box put a new date code on it and said you now have another 5 years warranty.... So thank you ISE your customer service was excellent and although I had to wait a while for the engineer as not many in this neck of the woods I could not be happier with the results. I was even given the box of bits included in the new one so have a spare everything including an air switch.
