1965 Frigidaire Dryer and Roller Matic Washer

I have a yellow 1965 set of Frigidaire's on eBay. They both work great. The washer is a Roller Matic. Is $1400 a fair price for the set? They both work and from what I understand, yellow is an uncommon color for them.

The best bet is to start the bid LOW and let the auction run its course. High starting prices generally turn people off from bidding.

You may eventually get the price (or even more), but it's too high for a starting bid.

Anyway, they are pretty, and yes, the yellow is uncommon. I have seen these more in white and copper.

Important to remember that vintage stove sometimes fetch that kind of money because:

1- they have been restored
2- they have very few moving parts.
3- they last forever, especially the gas ones.

W, D, & DW are mechanically complex and I would say it's tough for a collector to shell out such sums, plus shipping, plus restoration, plus NLA Parts... plus...plus plus...

My Ebay experience...

I have bought several coffeemakers on Ebay over the past years......Here are some thoughts:

-Start with a low price

-Put a reserve on it(so that if the reserve is not met, the item will not be sold)

-You can always entice the right bidder with a 'Buy it Now' price

-Be prepared for last minute bidders who up the price tremdously sometimes in a bidding war, but, not as high as if they were bidding all along

Those are handsome machines. I've never understood why that pastel yellow never really took off, particularly given the popularity of harvest gold, which I don't find nearly as nice, some years later. It was always one of my favorites.

They are in wonderful cosmetic condition. I had friends with the same machine, a sudsaver model and used it until 1998. There is undoubtedly "good bones" under the yellow porcelain and chrome exterior. May the patron Saint of washerpeople shine on your auction.

Hey Lance, Oh how I would love to have that set but $1400 with a buy it now of 2 grand! WHEW! I have sold several items on e-bay and your best bet is to just set a reserve and let the bidding begin on it's own. You would probably have a lot better luck selling. best of luck on your auction.

Wow!Canary yellow.I last saw this color on a 1959 FRIGIDAIRE 40 inch wide range last august in the junk yard.I would have taken it if the idiots who brought it hadn't thrown it off their truck.

There was an auction on ebay that ended last week (see the link below) for a late 1950's Westinghouse Laundromat and matching dryer (in pink!). The auction started at $60 (with NO reserve) and stayed there around 3 days. It went up to about $360 and stayed there until the last day of the auction. Within the last few hours, it quickly shot up where it finally ended at $1325!!

It turns out there were located only about 10 miles away from me, but $1325 was a little rich for my blood. :-(

That Frigidaire Yellow . . .

My Grandmother had the very same yellow Frigidaire, from somewhere in the mid '60s, and a matching yellow RCA Whirlpool refrigerator. If I had known then what I know now (how many times have we all thought this!), I would have saved the washer when she died in '97.

We had a 1958 white Frigidaire washer that we got used in 1964, and when it died my parents replaced it with a 1972 harvest gold Frigidaire. Anyway, my aunt & uncle had the same 1958 washer, but in yellow. That was way back in the mid to late '60s, and I haven't seen any '58s in yellow, since. (sigh)
