1965 Frigidaire Tech-Talk

I have been scanning some recently acquired Frigidiaire technical literature and thought this was humorous enough to share.

I thought that the rapturous look on the "lady of the house's" face seemed to be a bit much in the front cover photo...until I noticed that her lover is trapped inside the washing machine!!!

I could probably muster up that look for that gentleman too!

When did they start putting a window in the lids of the TOL machines?

That was a 1-18 thing. Early 70s would be my guess.

The 60's models had them but I do believe they either came as an option or as standard issue on Gold Crown models.

One of my dream sets is a 66 rollermatic with the liquid detergent and fabric softener dispensers in the panel, like this one has with a filtrator matching dryer. In pink, preferably oh vintage genie of the lava lamp.

I'll have to do some research as to the FIRST year of the window on the washer. The 1965 WCI (& WCIR) had both a BLEACH and FABRIC CONDITIONER dispenser on the control panel).

Kenmore71, that will be interesting to know if you are able to find out.  I know for a fact that they were available in '68.

I just acquired a 1964 Custom Deluxe, It isn't running yet but will be soon I hope? When it is up and washing, I am sure that I will have the same look of adoration and love for my new 1964 Custom Deluxe. Gary

Window lids were offered on coin operated models first. I think the rectangular window lids were also first offered on coin operated models in 1966.  In 1967, it was on the TOL WXL model and other later variable speed models. By 1968 they were also offered on Gold Crown models (which were higher volume models). 

 

I think there are many Frigidaire washers from the 1960s and 1970s that belong to members here that had their window lids added. That includes my WIC-A 1-18 washer which souldn't have one. But I think it does look much better with a window lid and since I got one which matched the color of my cabinet and it was given to me, why not use it!

Window lids were also on the futuristic-looking, dry-cleaning Frigidaires with Jetcone agitators in the early sixties.

 

Gary Congrats! Does the 64 look like the 65?
