Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Congratulations

Thanks guys! The washer has VERY little use.. Chrome is shiny with zero pitting. Bakelite agitator is very shinny. It appears it sprung a leak, and got put to the side. An elderly lady passed on, and the house was sold with the appliances. The new owner wanted them gone, as she had rented the house. You just never know what's out there right under your nose. I understand now why Robert has the rule of one comes in, one must leave!

1966 Whirlpool Pair

Very nice score Marty indeed, from the washers serial# the washer was built in late 1965, but I think they were considered 66 model machines.

One can tell looking under the washer these are truly low use machines, I would bet it even has the orignal belt on it and it even still has the orignal pot-metal water pump which were discontinued in 1966, wow.

The problem is if you start using a machine like this several loads a week without a complete tear-down and going over they usually do not last very long before you have main bearing problems and water leaks. But do enjoy them and keep us posted as to how they are doing.

HolySheets(clean)

....those are OUTSTANDING! If I came across these, I'd be in disbelief. It's so nice to know that these kind of finds are still on Craigslist. There was someone in Tennessee who found a beautiful Lady Kenmore W&D set, vintage in a yellow color, I believe. Your find is an inspiration. From the 60's - awesome awesome find...enjoy and congratulations Marty.

Wow!  What an amazing find!!  There was a similar set in turquoise that turned in San Francisco a while back - they must have been way more popular on the west coast.  I've never seen a set on the east... well, so far...

Great score - congratulations!!

MOST EXCELLENT......

They are beautiful. Great Design and Color (of course).

Gives me Hope in Finding my Turquoise Maytag 700series
washer. Finding these, saving them, and sharing the
pics, makes it feel like a win for us all.

Good Luck,Marty.

Best Washes,

Louis

Tub removal

Thanks for the well wishes everyone! I removed the tub today to replace the leaky tub flange. Here is a picture with tub removed. There was corrosion on the center upright that the outer tub goes around. Other than that the tub and metal flanges looked great! Here is a picture. I will add more tomorrow. My only problem is getting a new water level hose. I haven't located one yet. The tub seals were available locally.

Looks as though you took apart a new machine!

Amazing!

I bet the dryer is just as clean!

Lucky You!!!!

Thanks for the pictures!

Wow!!

Those look excellent!! They are super clean inside & out!! I, too, have never seen a center post & pump in such good condition on a machine of this age! This machine must have seen extremely minimal use, or the house has super soft water!

Congratulations on your find. I love the turquoise blue color! Crossing my fingers for you on the repair. Have fun with it!
