Hi Folks,
Have a beautiful condition 40" range that the right (large) side Bake and Broil elements stopped working on recently (smaller left side still functions perfectly, along with all cook tops). Model J486.
I replaced the right bake element and still nothing. I removed the back panels and found that while power is going to the main switch, that no power leaves the switch/dial when attempting to turn on bake/broil functions.
Upon looking at the wiring schematic I found the thermostat/relay (or responder as I have come to find called online) appears to show signs of damage (see photos below). Part # WB21x162. There are two other "responders" in this oven (one for the sensi-temp cooktop, and one for the smaller left oven).
I intend to do some further investigation to make sure the temp sensors are not causing a problem, but looking at the main responder it does appear to be damaged so I am suspect of it.

Does anyone know where I might be able to locate a replacement WB21x162 responder/temp switch?
Thank you in advance!

PS, please enjoy the attached photos of the range, as well as the near perfect original wiring schematic that I was fortunate to find inside the back panel!

No Heat From 2nd Gen GE P-7 Oven

Check the oven sensor, it should read 17.5 Ohms resistance, if you connect the wires together it should make the oven heat if it is bad. [ Do Not leave it bypassed, oven will never stop heating and eventually destroy the oven ]

There is no responder for the small oven.

The damaged-burned heat shield on the back of the responder does not hurt anything or indicate a problem.

Steve is correct, the 3rd wire is indeed broken. I have not had the opportunity to check the oven temp sensor resistance, but I am fairly certain the wire isn't supposed to be broken on the responder.

I have stumbled upon 1 or 2 used responders online but am a tad reluctant to purchase because the sites are obscure.

Does anyone happen to have a better resource where I may be able to find a new or used responder?

Thank you again in advance!

Well, I took a gamble trying to purchase a responder from one of the sites I found...and it was indeed a fake site. No luck on a responder.

I then stumbled upon this JR1402 oven locally. My google skills must have been off that day because I could have sworn I found that it used the same responder that I was looking for, but upon purchase and opening it up they are in fact different.

So for now, the search for the responder continues. Really hoping I can find something soon otherwise I may have to look into replacing the oven. What a shame.

If any of you think you might need any parts (or the whole thing) from this JR1402 just let me know.
Thanks,
-Matt
