That exact Frigidaire model was my daily driver for 4 years in a tiny apartment (because it used such a small amount of water, I was able to drain it into the small kitchen sink without any problem). It was a great machine and kept me out of the laundromats.
I do want another Rollermatic from a similar vintage, but this time I want a TOL with Rapid-Dry and the panel dispensers.
I have the matching dryer in yellow if anybody is interested.
Doesn't appear so. To me, it looks like surface rust covering the porcelain of the tub. Pretty common area on a Frigidaire solid tub to have rust begin to build up.
Rapid dry?
No. There was a Custom Deluxe offering for Rapid Dry, the WCDATL, which both the control panel would call out the Rapid Dry option, as well as the updated model number. This would be a standard 710 RPM Sure-Spin Rollermatic mechanism.
Is this one that shows up as a POD occasionally in an advertisement that basically says 'You can go for this or you can go for that'? The two washers appear at first glance to be identical, but one does offer the Rapid spin and the other does not.
OK i just wondered. There was a Frigidaire on here a while back that had some transmission fluid in the bottom of the tub and it looked like that. That's the only reason I ask. I'm planning on buying it in a week or two if he still has it. I just wanted to make sure I was buying something that wasn't fixable.
These were nice washers has been noted. That’s rust in the tub at some point water was allowed to stand in the tub for a long time, the rust can be mostly cleaned off in the machine could still be used if it works otherwise.
The rapid dry versions were a lot more fun but a little more complicated. I have one from 68 in the house in West Virginia that I use whatever I go up there it’s a washer.
Hey guys, i'm still dealing on this Frigidaire. If I get it, it will have to be next week.Someone is supposed to look at it so, i don't know. I did talk to the owner again and he told me that that was a little oil in the bottom of the tub. So what does that mean as far as fixing it?
If you're concerned about the Rollermatic mechanism leaking oil up through the bellows, have no fear. No oil is present within the transmission.
It could have come from a number of things over the years - someone spilling something in the tub, someone could have used penetrating oil on the screws in attempts to remove the tub from the support (not a good idea), etc. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Hi DJ, there is absolutely no oil in a Frigidaire roller matic washer so I don’t know where the oil in the tub came from but it would not be a cause for concern. That’s for sure.
The rust in the tub is because water sat in it for an extended period of time at some point in time, it doesn’t look fatal you can sand off the rest and if it ends up leaving rust stains on clothing when you try to use it there are Various sealers and paints that you could use to make the washer usable.
Hey guys, Thanks for helping me out. I don't know a whole lot about the roller matic machines.I didn't know where the oil would come from in the wash tub, especially a tub where the clothes go. Thanks!
Hi Roger, hope you guys have a good visit today. Ask Phil are if he wants my Frigidaire Food life preserver refrigerator have him get in touch with me if he’s interested.
