As of right now the drive hub just stripped out on my 2019 Whirlpool WTW5000DW3 washer. Washplate moves independently from the drum. When it tries to spin it makes a weird noise and clothes come out soaked.

The drive hubs aren’t too expensive but the bearings are also shot on my machine as it made a very loud roaring noise on the spin cycle before the hub stripped, and the only way to solve the bearing issue is to change the transmission. Despite the bearing being bad it’s not leaking.

As an experienced repair technician, I work on VMWs almost every day. I work at an appliance repair shop.

I don’t understand why Whirlpool puts plastic hubs on their machines, they frequently strip out. This washplate Will probably be a pain to take off when I’m out of work. I already get enough of those things off, now I’ll have to do it on my own machine.

As a fellow appliance repair person

Why don’t you have a decent washing machine at your house?

Get yourself a good front load washer why put up with the performance of one of these cheap top loaders I’m sure you’re in the position to get your hands on a good front load washer for nothing and make a few repairs if necessary.

This is what an appliance repair person‘s laundry room should look like everything here works beautifully

John, I like what I'm seeing.

Can you tell me more about your windowed Whirlpool dryer? Can you post pics of the control panel? What is that door thing on the top of the dryer for?

I am tempted to ask more question like why you have a Frigidaire 1/18 (?) washer and a belt drive Kenmore. And why no Tide Professional or a Speed Queen toploader?

Can you tell me more about your windowed Whirlpool dryer? ... What is that door thing on the top of the dryer for?
Machinery that's apparently new to you. It's an EasyClean 100 dryer, offered for a few years. Has a large-capacity lint collection basket, touts that "up to 100" loads can be run until it needs emptying. The system is a variation of a Kenmore design that used a (disposable) lint collection bag. Search parts diagrams for model LEL8858D or LEL8858E.

Some info in this thread:

John has good tastes. I think more dryers should have window doors. Maybe even running the interior light with the motor so you can see it dry- how nice that would be.

I found another thread where John added fire proof sound dampening to that dryer, another plus in my opinion. It also mentions a modulating gas burner, and being able to run the dryer over 156*F, something that I not only don't agree with but contradicts John's past statements about avoiding dryers getting to hot.
