Hi everyone, I have a 1968 Kenmore electric dryer, it doesn't have timer, but it has only a moisture sensor and a 5 dryness levels selector. I have a problem with the firsts 3 position, the dryer doesn't stop. If I put at the 4th and 5th position it stop normally but it doesn't dry well. Sometimes the 3th position works and sometimes doesn't work, the dryer keeps working eternally. I don't know if it's a problem of moisture sensor or with the electronic board. I'd like to know if there is someone can help me to fix it. Thank you!

Welcome to the group....and all the way from Brazil!

really nice set you got there...love that control panel setup...

behind the control panel should be an adjustment for dryness levels.....

had to adjust one I had, as for Heavy loads you set to 1, Normal loads were on 2.....3, 4, and 5 were almost worthless for drying a load....

an adjustment evened things out a bit.....

Try cleaning the sensor area with rubbing alcohol, I am unaware of any possible adjustment to this control system.

This was a pretty reliable control system, but we did occasionally see a bad control, the circuit board is sealed in a steel can or box, you can carefully open it and spray some contact cleaner on the switching contacts if you want.

Welcome Arthur!

Those are really nice! I see you have a birthday in ten days, so happy B.D. early!
You also lift weights, as do I. Not so much to get bigger, but to maintain my health and vitality. I'm almost 61. I have gained about 6 lbs. or so of muscle over the past two years. I only train natural, and for us older gent's, it's harder to gain muscle.

Thank you John L.

I did exactly as you said. I cleaned the contacts of the board. It worked for a while but these last days the problem appeared again. Is there a possibility of some kind of clothes close the circuit of the sensor and it works like the clothes are still wet?

Thank you vacerator!

I'm very glad to know that you lift weigh as well! 5 years ago I was obese, my weight was about 380 lbs. Since 2018 I was trying to lose fat and gain muscles. Now I'm weighing 258 lbs and my body fat is around 21%. I'm trying to reduce it keeping the weight high!

Dryness adjustor behind control panel?!?

Whoa I didn't know that was a thing! My grandparents have a Maytag Atlantis dryer that would always leave clothes pretty damp on the auto dry mode. I couldn't figure it out for the life of me, and yes I did try cleaning the sensor. Does this dryer also have this feature?
