Hello all,

My mom's gorgeous Harvest Gold vintage late 1970's Maytag DE 606 electric dryer needs an idler pulley. Can anyone suggest a source for this part? I have checked the internet and the Akron, Ohio area where my mom lives to no avail. I would hate to have to scrap this beauty for want of a $20 part. Works perfectly other than LOUD squeaking from worn out bushings. Thank you for any help you can offer!

I posted this over at Appliantology.org as well

idler pulley service

I think that those models have idler pulley service that is supposed to be performed occasionally. It may simply need to be disassembled, cleaned , relubed and reassembled. I will look in a hoh manual that I have around the house somewhere and get back to you. Les

MT Dryer Idler Pulley

These idler pulleys are getting scarce, I just sold my last extra one week to a customer. You can take the pulley and shaft to a machine shop and they can make a new bearing and turn down the scored shaft.

If the dryer has been operated much at all while it was screeching oiling will not do much good at all, once something like this starts making noise it is generally too late for maintenance.

I take it these are the parts you're looking for. If so, I have a friend that lives in Columbus and I know that he had both of them available very recently in new old stock condition. If you're interested I'll get ahold of him and see if he still has them. But with the part numbers shown you may be able to track them down locally.
