1970s (?) Tappan Gas Range - thoughts?

I’m sure it works, but it’s very basic

It’s nothing that I would ever want as an appliance enthusiast, I would look for something of higher quality that’s easier to clean that has a waste high broiler, maybe a self cleaning oven and a little bit more style but if you just want basic range for a light use I suppose this would work well.

Yes, the bake igniter is still readily available.

Looks like the one some neighbors bought in the early-'80's...

It easily outlasted all their other appliances, hardly needing any repairs and worked perfectly right to the end when they just wanted a new stove...

John, thanks - you always bring me down, haha.

I definitely hate that the broiler is on the floor, but on the other hand I rarely broil anything and I have an electric range in the basement if the need arises.

I like this range because it's slightly interesting looking, clean, and not too expensive. My dream gas ranges have been out of reach price-wise because of the shipping cost and the uncertainty of not being able to see them in person to confirm condition.

Dave - thanks, good to know.

Still debating :)

price...

The price isn't right at the moment, they started at $500 and dropped to $300 after a week, which is still too much for this range in my opinion.

I found another one nearby - a Roper - still has the floor level broiler but it's decent looking and clean. They sent me a video showing the whole thing but I can't figure out how to include it here.

I doubt they're going to get $300.

Make an offer and see what happens. Usually works better if you're there in person and ready haul it away.
