1973 Kenmore 800 Operating Instructions

Just wanted to say thanks for the Emphemera section where I got the 1973 Kenmore 800 instructions. I have this machine and it is interesting to find out what Sears posted for the instructions on how to use this machine. I found out that the high water setting was only 16.2 gallons while the low was only 10.4, I always though it was on the low side for the Hi setting. Had to change that. I also didn't know that the Second Rinse option is set for a cold water rinse regardless of what the water temp is set at. And Sears also recommends that when using the low water setting to use the Knit Delicate cycle to provide gentle agitation and to reduce water splashing versus the Normal cycle. Again, Thanks for the operating instructions! Now the machine is complete.

Doug, we got the 1970/1971 version of this when I was in high school.  I don't remember our manual saying not to use the low water level when using normal or perm press, only use Knit/Delicate for that lowest water level.  Don't remember water splashing out on the floor when I did use it, (rarely).  The optional 2nd rinse, could get warm or cold rinse, it wasn't locked into cold rinse only.  I would have been upset if that had been the case.  If I wanted warm rinse, I wanted the 2nd rinse to be warm too.  I see no mention of this either for the 1982 Kenmore 80 series manual also recently added.  My 1986 Lady Shredmore offered warm or cold rinse with the 2nd rinse as did my 1978 GE Filter Flo.  The 1965 Frigidaire Custom Imperial also offered warm or cold rinse for the 2nd rinse, not locked into only cold.
