Anyone know when door dispensers first appeared? I remember seeing my first one in person c. 1976 in the home of some VERY wealthy friends of my parents. It was a GE.

So, did the fridge use water to dilute and dispense something concentrated? I was expecting it to merely dispense whatever was in compartments, but the rich/mild switch seems to imply that it actively diluted things. No?

RICH-MILD SETTINGS
Yes this knob adjusted the strength of the beverage. You could put consontrated liquid in the containers inside the ref door and adjust the constriction [ it was diluted with chilled water from the water dispenser system ] or you could put full strength beverage in and set the control to rich and no water was added, so I guess that you could put in red wine and White Russians.
