1975 Vintage Kenmore Gas Dryer for Sale in NYC

Just a refresh post, folks. This was my grandparent's dryer, bought new in 1975. It works great. I replaced the igniter in 2003 with the upgraded Whirlpool kit.

More on the Story

As an aside, as mentioned in the first post I did on this machine, I went with my grandparents as a 4 year old kid in 1975 to buy this machine at Sears.

I remember it. How? Back then, you could get 3 pretzels for $1 at the food counter in Sears. I remember the pretzels in the brown Sears bag and being in the store. The Sears store is still there and I go there every now and then to exchange my Sears Craftsman tools.

My uncle's neighbor (what us Italians also call our "uncle") who was our family friend was a manager at the local Sears. I believe he purchased it through Sears for my grandparent's. I'd have to ask him as he is also still alive and well and is still my uncle's neighbor, and still our family friend.

I still have my first Sears Craftsman mechanic's tool set from 1990 with the receipt....sorry, that one's not for sale .

I hope it finds a new home too. One of my aunts had that exact model in gas as well. It was perhaps the quietest running Kenmore dryer I ever heard.

I'm VERY sentimental to this Dryer....

Very quiet indeed.

We had the Electric Version when I was growing up...

Had everything you could ever want in a Dryer except a Drum Light and a Lighted Console...

We had ours from 1976 until 1993....

It needs to find a good home, and fast...

Yes it does! It works beautifully. It's always provided great service and as you both said, it's quiet.

Parts are easy to come by for it, and as I noted previously, it almost got tossed out in 2003 when it broke, because my family thought it was old and unrepairable. Of course, I knew better and with $35 in hand, I bought a new ignitor kit and replaced it. Still working like new.

It's in the New York City area (easy to get to, and there's plenty of parking where I live) and on a nice quiet block too!

Drum Roll....Tears Shed....

The Kenmore has found a new home and has been sold. I will truly miss this machine as it was the first machine I learned to fix way back in the day and as noted, I went to buy it when it was shiny and brand new. It has given stellar service and will continue to do so for the new owner.
