Hello. I don’t post here too often but I read posts daily. And I have an Amana microwave that the touchpad has stopped working on. It’s completely unresponsive. No beeps, clock don’t work and no countdown starts when I press the start button. But strange as it sounds it still works. If I push the start button it will come on and start cooking, but it will run forever. You have to stop it manually. I really love this microwave and have no intentions of getting rid of it,but I am struggling to figure out what the problem is. I don’t know if it’s the control board or something else. Was hoping maybe somebody here could give me some pointers.

Amana touch matic microwave oven

Hi Jason, this may be one of the first ones is it an RR6 or something close to that the model numbers on the back.

Cory in Iowa is the expert on those and probably can repair it for you he goes under the handle of cadman

He has a part-time business restoring and repairing those Amana radar ranges

Ok thanks. I actually found him on google and sent him a message already. Lol he replied and was wanting pictures. I sent him some and now I’m waiting for a response.

I have the same one..

The same thing happened with mine. I didn't know about Cadman at the time and was trying to find a control board with no luck. I lucked out by finding an identical machine at Salvation Army. It was in horrible shape but I picked it up for $25. The controls worked fine so I swapped mine out the the one from SA and the problem was solved. Hope you get it working it looks like a really nice machine.

wow it looks brand new! Anyway - I don't remember anyone in my family having a microwave in the 1970s...The first I remember was my grandma who got one in the early to mid 80s and it looked a LOT like this one. Hopefully you get it working again. I can't get over how shiny it is.

Update

Well a funny happened. I went to use it the other day and it made a funny buzzing noise and everything came on. So far it has been working great now. I don’t know what happened. But there’s a good possibility that something is beginning to fail. I will just keep using it until it does. But at least I know a place I can send it for repair when that day comes.
