I know there are sprinkler buffs in here. I decided to give my brand new 1977 Rain Train a whirl today and take a few snapshots along the way. This is the model with the plastic body filled with sand for weight. Before this and after this they were cast iron. Hope you like!
never seen one like that before-open wheel spokes is kinda cool.i scored a raintrain out of the dumpster earlier this summer-was a little weathered, but in good working order as it was.Has what looks like a 1990 casting date on the body.
Johns knows about my collection and has seen it! It's even bigger and now that I've almost an acre to water, boy am I having fun! Right now the 1977 Rain King traveler are running up the backyard and the 1936 Rain King majestic is revolving away in the front yard, watering a beautiful 55 Ft. circle. So glad for I inch pipes! Greg
I have two new yellow cast iron Nelson traveling sprinklers that need homes, I bought them at estate sales and find I have no need for them, get in touch and make an offer, Thanks John
I LOVE that Rain King, it's amazing the difference between that sprinkler, (even though it's more work, I have to move it) and the Thompson it replaced. The lawn is so much greener and stays damp much longer (we are on a watering schedule of m-w-f.)

How strange that there are guys out there unusual as myself. I have a LOT of old sprinklers. I like the sunbeam traveling ones the best, as far as traveling sprinklers go. I sure have a lot of sprinklers. At least they don't take up as much room as washers and dryers.
