Hi guys, It's hard to catch this on video, so I will try to explain this best I can.

As you hear on many machines during the agitation portion, you can hear the "air" sound while the pump runs, and at some point the drain hose makes the light "gurgle" sound after a certain amount of each time.

Well sometimes at the near beginning (not right at) of a wash, the pump will make a noise (usually soft to moderate) as if there is something in it, but then once the drain hose makes that gurgle sound, the pump noise instantly goes away and it does not come back for the rest of the time.

Some things to note, it has only ever sometimes happened with hot water, and never with warm, and only during agitation, never when it is draining.

Usually the first load is the whites, so hot is selected, and then it is colors with warm after. Last time I did a test, by doing warm first; no noise at all. Then did hot for the second load; the noise sounded for about 5 seconds and then again, went away right as the drain hose gurgled and didn't happen again.

This pump is still pretty new, it was replaced in December 2011.

Could there be something in it, or is there something else that maybe is the cause?

I would first open the pump and hoses just to see if something is stuck, like a pin, or coin of some sort rattleing around....also tr looking inside the outter tub, that a foreign piece may be thrown back up into it, and then falling back down into the pump area.......worth a shot....

let us know how you make out......

pump noise

My last WP DD machine did this with hot water. The machine was only a couple of years old and started with a squeal/squeak only with hot water. The machine continue to run fine however and the pump did not leak or anything.

Well, I took the pump off and could not find anything, at least what you can visibly see through the ports, and nothing in the outer tub either. I did manually turn the pump shaft and it moves very easily, so all I could think of trying is maybe just giving the pump a good rinsing inside. Everything is back together now so I guess I will have to leave it at that for now.
