Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

For some one who drive 3-5K a month is this good?

I'd personally get something with a 4 cylinder and manual transmission if you're putting that many miles on the road a month. The savings in gas alone will nearly pay for the vehicle itself in a short amount of time. Treat the clutch and trans nicely (don't forget to change the oil in the trans every 30K or so. Same for the differential) and they will both last at least 200K miles. The trans will outlast the life of the vehicle.

The thing is that i want something comfie... And have cruise and space for crap (if i find appliances or what not and maybe evn sleep in it)

Maybe a 4 cyl truck with a long bed and camper shell? Best of both worlds. I have comfortably slept in the back of my truck a few times.

Can't be that often since you like to STORE your appliance treasures in the back all the time... LOL!!!

Different truck, but I have a bunch of parts in the back of that one too. Damn this hobby!!!!!

:)

I am looking at a 00 Honda Odyssey, 02 Toyota Sienna, 97 Mercury Villager, the buick and a couple explorers

Travlincub!!! You better get it!!!!

You will LOVE this car. I have a 92 Chevy Caprice which is the same exact thing as the Roadmaster. I currently have 258,000 on the original engine, had to have the tranny rebuilt at 248,000 this past April, and the rear end at 238,000. The rear end was probably my fault, I think it should have lasted longer. But anyway, I have the 305 cubic inch V-8 in my Caprice. I'm pretty sure the Roadmaster came standard with the 350. You will get great highway mileage out of it, even with the bigger engine. I get between 24 and 27 mpg on the highway with mine. I do have a high performance coil, plugs, and plug wires along with a K&N air filter as well, which I highly recommend. I would even go with a Flowmaster muffler for a little more performance and even a slight increase in gas mileage. The best thing is, these upgrades for this car are dirt cheap! With the 22 gallon gas tank the station wagon has, you will get VERY far on a full tank on the highway. Yeah it'll hurt to fill it, but it'll last. City mileage isn't bad either as long as you keep your foot out of it. I promise you that you will love this car. It's very roomy, comfortable, and has the V-8 power I'm sure you'll want. Merging onto freeways, pulling from a dead stop in an emergency and passing on a 2 lane highway can be done with confidence. Not to mention they are pretty easy and relatively cheap to maintain. Plus it only has 60,000 miles on it! That car will last you a VERY long time as long as you take care of her. Trust me dude, coming from someone who has driven the cousin of that Buick for the past 17 years, I have NEVER been happier with a car as I have with this one. Get it NOW before someone else does!

Oh, one more thing

Just so you know I have the 4 door sedan, not the wagon, and that wagon you're looking at will have SO much room to haul just about anything around. Go for it man, you'll love it! Please let us know what you decide. And if you need more info about the car, or if you do buy it and need some maintenance tips, please feel free to ask me. I kept mine running this long, you'll have that one even longer. And I know these chassis like the back of my hand.

LUXURIOUS SPACIOUSNESS!

You'd better get it. The Roadmaster was a REAL car.

Also on the same platforms were the 92-96 Chevrolet Caprice Classic, Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser and the 93-96 Fleetwood-bodied Cadillac.

All these so-called 'D-body' cars were discontinued after 96.

Wagon

We had an Olds Custom Cruiser and it was flawless. Got excellent mileage, 18-20 around town and if I kept it at or under 70 22-24 was possible. Figure the cheap price will amortize more gas. It will hold as much as a pickup, is library quiet and floats over bumps and pot holes. You're gonna love it.

92 model and only 65,00 miles on it? AWESOME! However, if you do want it and before you sign on the dotted line, check into the possibility of having a QUALIFIED mechanic going over the car.

One Caution:

These D-body cars are prone to front-end problems, due to inadequate strength of certain parts like control arms, a problem inherited from the previous generation of full-size GM products.

Have the front end checked very carefully for signs of damage or wear. If the seller has documentation that front-end parts have been replaced, that's a good sign.

Give me....

....the Honda Odyssey or an Accord Wagon any day.....

...and I never thought I would say this, but...erk...a Camry wagon will have nearly as much boot space, likely be more reliable and use about half the fuel....

The other thing I notice is that people seem to equate 'large' with 'comfortable'....and in American car terms that often means 'huge'. Comfort is so more then the initial squish of the seat.

Neither of the Honda's or the Camry are 'small' cars, are renown for their quality and reliability, indeed Toyota has traded on it like Volvo and Mercedes trade on safety, and are undoubtedly more economical. Additionally, unless you're hauling full size appliances on a weekly basis, why pay the additional fuel costs every day of ownership? Get a tow hitch put on and borrow or hire a small trailer on those occassions you need to.

Oh, and they are newer and safer to boot...

Finally, something from left field and food for thought

- 9yrs younger
- Solid
- Safe
- renowned the world over for seat comfort
- undoubtedly more economical
- probably negotiable to the same price

Ok, higher mileage, but the make is also well known for handling moon-shot mileage with good servicing.....

The Roadmaster is a gorgeous car. You need to go get it quick. It is a real dream boat.
I'm waiting for a nice one to pop up around here for me to grab.
You really cant go wrong with the class, comfort, performance, and reliability of a Buick

Well,

I whent and drove it.. Damn it was nice.. But its a tad to big for me and to be honest, I couldnt get the seat HIGH enough for me to see over the steering wheel.. (I am 5'4" tall lol, im a short shit)..I tried to make it work, you guys where right, wow.... Its on my short list..The main thing is im too short to see over the wheel, and i have have to sit to close to the air bag for my comfort to reach the pedels... GRRRRR...

Under no circumstances will i drive a HONDA...Period... Thats like a plastic tub ge washer or a norgetag.. Ickky poo...

FYI;
That volvo is nice, but has NO service history and it needs struts...

Interesting comment about the Honda...especially seeing you mentioned the Odyessy on your list....

Honda tend to be rated higher than every other Japanese brand here, mind, the last ones that we got that were made in the USA/Canada didn't last too long on our market (MDX, Accord wagon and Civic coupe). All the others we source from either Thailand (US style Accord, Civic sedan, Jazz), Japan (Accord Euro, Odyessy) or the UK (Civic hatch)

....virtually nothing approaches them for build quality and reliability....

On the subject of the Volvo....they are nice.

My parents had a 240 GL Wagon for years that did well over 250,000miles (400,000klm)....if you can find one of those with at least the last say 20000miles worth of receipts, you should grab consider it....not stylish, but will run forever, comfortable and the wagon is HUGE inside...last ones were made about 1992ish

I couldnt get the seat HIGH enough for me to see over the st

All the jokes I could make about booster seats...

The Honda Odyessy and Toyota Sienna were both on our short list when were car hunting but we couldn't locate one in our price range. Then we found Anika, our '03 Toyota 4Runner. We couldn't be more pleased. Plenty of power, nice ride, wonderful mileage and lots of room. She even has a towing package for when I raid Kevin's garage... LOL! We also have a older Toyota Camry which also has been just about bullet proof as well.

Honda

I like vans and i know its a semi good product...

But yeesh..

I am not paying for a name.. Just because some dufus down the street will i wont have it... I drove 3 vans a 99, 2000 and 2001..All have had transmisson repairs (the 2001 the dealer admited such) and the 1999 and 2000 had both been wrecked..The dealer was a honda dealer and he told me 80%-90% of there honda trade ins have been wrecked and have had some kind of frame reapir.. He even showd mike and i the number of used certified honda cars that had body work... Minor frame damage is ok for a honda certified pre owned...

So in short.. I refuse to pay for a name.. Just like i dont shop at American Eagle, Abercrombie and Stench, Hollister (or is it holster?) and the like.. And very rarley to i go in walmart...

Ross, Home Goods, JC Pennys, Sears, Macys, Kmart and Target..

My only splurge stores: HArry and Davids and Restroation Hardware

I like the siennas alright... Just a tad slow
