Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I stand corrected.....didn't realize they used the Profile name on these...

I would go for this one, only because of the extra options and the SpotScrubber feature....and the true filterflo.....

but other than that, their both the same machine....

worst case, I would find the control panel you want and just swap it out....I have done this many times...

That's a nice set!

Would someone clarify which models and production dates for GE washers and dryers are good to have?

With Whirlpool and Speed Queen, can you change out control boards easily, even if they look different?

Thanks!

Yes that's what I like about the profiles, true filter flo, spotscrubber, the modern push buttons an of course the profile name itself.

filter flo years

perforated tub filter flo washers were made 1961-till sometime in 1995.Last few years of production,~1992-95,seen more prone to transmission input shaft oil leaks-this is an easy fix though.Filter flo input seal leakage is usually caused by iron particles generated by the transmission mechanism settling atop the input seal and getting between the seal lip and the shaft.

All GE filter flow washers

Had trouble with the lower transmission oil seal, they also had trouble with the top seal with water going into the transmission oil coming out on the clothing. No years were exempt from this problem from 61 through 95.

We used to buy GE rebuilt transmissions by the dozen and every single year was affected with problems.

NO BLEACH DISPENSER!!

Surprise Surprise Surprise!!!

I think that rim-flo is the first machine that I've seen that doesn't have a bleach dispenser in the front left corner of the top. It has the opening for it but a cover is in place of the dispenser cup which just goes to show that G.E. used the same style top for many of their machines and just made slight modifications for when needed.

It's neat to see that machine is also a rim flo.

Not in my opinion!

Functionally the "rim flo" wasn't the best idea. Sure it saved the consumer from the tedious task of removing/replacing that annoying lint filter on the agitator and touching that disgusting ball of lint with their hands to dispose of it after the cycle. BUT... at the same time it also completely negated the spray rinse during the spin! 100% of that water hit the "rim flo filter", then went directly to the outer tub and down the drain, not a single drop made it to the clothes.

For a short time I had a mid 90's Amana badged (Speed Queen) with that same "rim flo" type set up. While it didn't have any recirculating water to filter, the fill water entered the tub through that "rim flo" set up, causing the water to "shower" down into the tub, all around the tub. That was nice / neat to see. However during the spray rinse it was exactly the same, all the water went directly to the outer tub and down the drain. What a waist of water.

Hey Kevin & Kenny

Even with that trick (not sure who was responsible for it? Maybe Yogi?) of flipping the fill flume almost inside out, I agree, rinsing on the rimflo is a joke with the two rimflos I have. I figured it was neat to see GE use the rimflo as every machine Ive seen was always filter flow. When did GE make that switch? Was it on these models? And did it last until the end of production?

Good to know this model at least recirculates that water. I know BOL GEs and some late models that did not do this.

Either way these happen to be some of my favorites and a great washer/dryer to have. I still can't believe how GE dropped this design.
