2000 GE
My 2000 GE does that too. During the wash cycle, it would start on normal agitation for the majority and then go down to gentle for the last few minutes of the wash. It will do the spin speed stage where it starts out slow, then go to fast. By the way, I wonder if GE compared the wash action on their demo video. Chetlaham, when I first got my GE set in approx. 2001, I expected the filter-flo and minibasket. The machine shook on normal/fast speed during agitation. I thought it was gonna break apart! I am already missing the '80's style GE pair! Same design as my '93 that I had. I could be wrong, but GE started having the push to start buttons in '96 if you can correct me. My 2000 has a push to start and cycle indicator lights so I believe it is electronic. The knobs don't move during operation. I can't fathom how it has lasted so long, let aloned improved in cleaning quality. I was always under the impression that the filter-flos of the '60's, '70's, and '80's cleaned better than the post filter-flos did. I wondered how GE made their plastic tubs so strong. I thought those would break. Period.
