well you guys all have lots more "toys" than I do, I look at everyone's profile and you have several machines.....
I bought these when I built my house cuz i thought they were cool.....whoo knew how cool they were, I just found this site it's awesome.......machines are fascinating to me, and I have worked on alot of them.......
thanks to everyone for sharing here.....

When did the TOL lighted console dryer go from the 29" with the lint screen on top to the 27" with the lint screen in front?

I think the change over began in the fall of 1995 when the last lighted Kenmore's went down for the final finale.

thank you

Hey Mike, is that you loading the dishwasher when you were younger and now today, standing next to the same dishwasher ???
that's a cool sink and dishwasher, where did you find that one ?
Mike

I LOVE that set!! My aunt and uncle also had the 1999 model only in black. Let me ask you a question about it, does the regular cycle use that ridiculous slow agitation that doesn't move anything? I got so frustrated by theirs because the regular agitation did not move any clothes. I would always have to use the heavy duty cycle to get the fast agitation, then it cleaned amazing.

Normal cycle

Yes, surpersurg, the normal cycle uses the medium speed of the 3 speeds to wash the clothes, and your right you can't over load at all or it won't move the clothes, but on Heavy Duty it sure does, one thing I have found is that for regular clothes i use the normal cycle, it does clean fine if you don't over load, other wise on heavy duty it's kinda hard on some of the clothes.......
your right it cleans well tho,
also like the rinse which is 4 minutes and other kenmores are only 2, these machines were much nicer than I even thought when I bought them.......

Water level dependent.....

The normal cycle speed depends on the water level. I've found that with less that medium level the washer agitates at a slow speed, bump it it a bit and it switches to normal.

water level

Yes Matt, your right, lower water level than medium and it switches to slow speed agitation....as the manuel says, to help with less wear and tear on the clothes, they are cool machines......

Another photo of set

Alas, these do not appear to be as well-cared-for as Mike's set. Still, they are rare.

NICE SET!

Interesting to see that the heat inlet in this gas dryer is yellowish/brown.

SARCASM: Especially since we know that gas (cooking) is just as clean as electric (cooking).

Luckily most loads of clothes are only tumbling in the byproducts of combustion for a hour. Not enough to really dirty them.

nice set

WOW, couple years older than mine, still, clean up, new paint job, and they could look new......
By the way, anyone needs help with paint, I use to paint cars in a body shop, so I can tell ya all the ins and outs of painting, and I still have all my guns and sanders, so if your not to far away I could paint most anything metal for you guys......or give tips on repairs, I have painted a few machines and they look factory when done.....

thanks for the pics here retropia !!!

I would think that those machines that have been sitting outside may have some control board problems. I have been told that moisture is a killer of those components. It looks like those machines have been rained on more than just a few times.

I had a set

I bought these from Sears back in 1997 when I moved up here from Florida. Before the washer was four months old, it had three service calls on it. The last straw was a burnt out timer board which caused the washer to run all day long in a low speed spin with the cold water on constant spray. Good thing I didn't pay a water bill in that apartment. Took Sears 7 weeks to get the replacement in. The tech was friendly, but the seervice people on the phone couldn't be bothered to do their jobs. By that time the parts came in, I had replaced them both with the Amana touch pad washer and dryer and got Sears to take that crap back! The Amanas are still running at my cousin's house.

I would always smile at the number of them at the scratch and dent center.
