Worth a Shot?

Can anyone tell what models these are and if they are the most desireable units? Would they be able to work as daily drivers or at least as a spare machine for what will be washed better in them than in a Duet?

They are both 1-18's, or at least look like it.   They are the older (early 70's?) Frigidaire design.

I say go for it!

They are from the late seventies as they have the retaining tab for the newer (pan type) lint filter that was used in the last years of the GM design.

The model number should be WIB or WIG.

I purchased these two machines yesterday, Saturday. The prior owner said they both worked and did not leak. Cosmetically they're somewhat rough, each having some rust on the sides.
The harvest gold one is Model WCD, Serial Number 50EA 4627; the almond-colored one is Model WIB, Serial Number 82EE 1117. Anyone know when they were manufactured?
I'm hoping to hook them up sometime late this next week and see what happens.

1975 for the WCD and 1978 for the WIB

CD on the WCD stands for Custom Deluxe and I in the WIB stands for Imperial but both machines are very similar. It's just that series were downgraded in the late seventies so a 1978-79 Imperial was the equivalent of a 1975 Custom Deluxe.

The main difference between your two washers should be the water temperature selection, the lid switch location and the lint filter type used.

Want one.

Please keep in mind if they are both decent and you want to share. I would love one. Otherwise, I am so glad I found something and was able to share it which allowed someone to buy them.

Congrats on getting 2 Frigidaire 1-18's. Definitely come back and tell us what kind of condition they are in. Be sure and fill the tubs with hot water and let sit for a good 5 minutes to check for leaks before running them. If they have sat for quite a while this may help to soften up the tub seal and bellows.

Good Luck!

Phil, thanks for the great information. I appreciate it.
Alex and Quincyman, I'll keep you guys in mind if I want to dispose of these machines.
Patrick, thanks for the heads-up about the hot water and the seals. I will definitely do as you say.
