Tom:

My work with TOTS began in '68, the organization's first season away from the Chastain Amphitheater. At that point, the Atlanta Civic Center was the TOTS venue, though the old scene shop on a hill above the Amphitheater in Chastain Park was where we apprentices did much of our work. Last time I was in the park (which has definitely been a while), the scene shop building was still there, a blue Butler Building, though I have no idea if TOTS was still using it or not.

I saw shows at Chastain, but never worked in the Amphitheater. Evalyn Barron, an actress who worked with TOTS a lot at both venues, told me lots of "war stories" about the hazards of working under the stars.

Untamed Youth

If you want to see Mamie Van Doren at her peak, watch "Untamed Youth" sometime, either the straight version, or the Mystery Science Theatre 3000 makeover. Back then there were the 3 Ms, Monroe, Mansfield, and Mamie. I like Mamie too, and am glad she's still going strong. There is a nameless site owner who thinks of her in less glowing terms, no reason given. Maybe he's upset because she's the only survivor of The Bombshell Era?

Oh, and Mamie Pink referred to Mrs. Eisenhower, for her love of pink. Mansfield, according to one source didn't really favor pink, that was a gimmick. She preferred neutral colors.

I'd really enjoy any version of the pink range in the ad, and the push buttons being where they are, may not be much of a cat hazard.

I think Mrs. Kennedy Onasis came up with the "Mamie pink" thing when refurbishing the White House living quarters. Ringo Starr painted Ms. Mansfield's pink Mansion white. Now I have to research "Ms. Dagmar". I think of our tangents as segues. Twintubdexter, thank You for posting the stoves the O&M resembles the Fabulous 400.
