2015 Frigidaire Gallery Dishwasher won't power on

My in-laws just purchased a different home and discovered the dishwasher won't power on. It's a Frigidaire Gallery with Orbit Clean spray arm. Model #FGID2474QF2B. Made in Italy. Paperwork left with the house says it was purchased in 2015. The dishwasher shows signs of use but an elderly couple sold them the home so I don't think it had hard use.
Breaker is on (flipped it several times for potential reset) and no issues were expressed by the seller. Looking for ideas of potential issues or opinions if the machine is worth the effort to fix. I haven't been around a Frigidaire dishwasher since the early 1980's when my folks bought one. Thanks in advance

Try this

Try holding down the start/cancel button for 30 seconds and see if the cancel cycle will start. You will get "1 min" in the countdown window. The control interface can be a little tempermental.  I have the same dishwasher.

Make sure that it didn't inadvertently get unplugged. some new houses have the dishwashers plugged in under an adjacent sink or in a cabinet, and they can get unplugged by accident.

Our dishwasher has a separate switch on the wall that controls the power to the DW, just like a light switch. If your in-laws recently moved into this home they may have the same set up and not be familiar with it. My complex was built in 1980 and all of our units are like this. I can’t tell you how many new home owners over the years have found their DW wouldn’t turn on and ask me why. It’s always been the switch was turned off on the wall.

Look and see if there isn’t an extra switch above the DW on the wall thats turned off. Turn it on and see if the DW can’t be turned on then.

I don't think any ELux DW was very much to write home about, but it should be better than nothing.

If none of these already listed more indirect reasons cause the issue, and a long unplug dosen't help, this is probably a more unfortunate case.

Any appliance (that is built by a reputable, regulated manufacturer at least) has a power line filter.
That ensures no electrical noise or interference gets into the appliance or vice versa feeds back into the grid.

That's usually a couple of inductors, capacitors and varistors.
These are electronic components like normal, they rarely fail, but they can, and since they are the very first thing all the power goes through, if they fail, you often just get a dead appliance.
And if it hasn't run in a long time, and then just is "dead", something like a capacitor is a likely culprit.


The difficult part there now is that ELux often places that filter not as a separate part somewhere in the machine, but on the main control board.

And looking at the parts lists, there does not appear to be a separate line filter assembly.
Which means if that is true and I didn't miss it, the problem is most likely the main control board.
This machine has 2, the UI and display board in the door plus another control board that does all the power management etc.
Part would be around 200$.

Diagnosing that directly is pretty hard.
You'd have to probe around a bit with a multimeter on a life board and around other life connections which you might not feel comfortable doing.
Doing visual checks would be a simpler option, checking that all connections are seated etc.
