My 6 year old heavily used Series 8 Speed Queen has started to make a squeaking sound during agitation (not the whole time). It’s concerning. It’s very hard to source parts in Canada for Speed Queen machines. Any ideas of what this sound may be? I have a video on my iPad but I can’t figure out a way to attach it to this forum.
Just hoping there were some suggestions as to what failures occur after 6ish years and what to look for when removing the front of the machine.
Thanks and sorry if this is vague.

A common cause of that noise/squeaking is the belt tension idler, or the belt wearing a bit.

Videos can't be directly attached/uploaded in a post.  They must be put online elsewhere, with a URL to the video pasted into your post.  YouTube is recommended.  The board coding automatically recognizes standard YouTube URLs* and embeds the video for playing within the post (you'll see it in the post preview).

*The newer YouTube Shorts format doesn't embed and extraneous coding such as for playlists or timestamps isn't recognized, typically appears as some gibberish characters after the video frame.

In the meantime, how the squeaking occurs can be a good hint.

If it is a continuous squeaking, a belt/pulley issue is more likely.

If it is a rhythmic squeaking with the agitation, it can be a suspension related noise.
Could be one of the springs or some of the contact points wearing away.
That has caused noises on these machines before.

It could be the pump in theory as well - that runs continuously as well as far as I understand, but those are rare failures.

I would possibly guess that a belt/pulley is most likely.
Those parts are relatively cheap to source and should be 1 to 1 replaceable with the Huebsch (is that how you spell it?!?) parts of the same design.
Repair is really easy and I think there are a bunch of videos online showing how to do that.

Sourced parts

I thank you for your replies. The squeaking only occurs during agitation. I have found a place that I can order the parts from.
Am I looking for the agitate and spin belt OEM 38174
Or the idler pulley OEM38225P

I am having my 19 year old college student son fix this (he just finished his first year of Motive Power Technician)ie:auto mechanic. He says a belt is an easy fix! But I want to have the proper parts ready to go.

almost the same

Almost the same situation here in Hawaii with sourcing SQ parts, items are readily available from suppliers in the lower 48, however shipping to Hawaii is absurd.
One particular vendor wanted $48 to FedEx a part weighing 12 ounces to me, whereas shipping to any of the lower 48 states is free!
My workaround has been to have parts mailed to a relative in CA, she in turn will pack them in a USPS large flat rate box and forward it to me, much more palatable for $23.
Such is life for living in the middle of the Pacific ocean, but I'll live nowhere else.
I applaud you in commissioning your son to perform the repairs, should be a walk in the park for him!
