Would someone please buy this so I won't have to keep thinking about it? This has been advertised a few times before at higher asking prices but had no takers. I already have the Mediterranean "Castillion" model of this Imperial Armoire and don't need another one. This is a great price. If you check on ebay you will see that the two metal reels on the auto-reverse recorder (made by Panasonic) are worth more than he's asking for the entire unit. It separates into two very heavy pieces. Don't make me drive two hours and get this. [this post was last edited: 8/15/2013-20:10]

The Etagere was here in our Goodwill warehouse store, it was complete but reeked of mildew. I didn't move fast enough to get it though. The roommate was here at the time anyway, so it was just as well. I've seen more end and octagon tables than that around here. The dual cabinet Continental in the third ad is gone, so you're out of danger. :P And for $85 I hope that first one goes to a decent home. It's less than I paid for mine with the color tv in it.

Interesting - I used to live on Randi Ave in Woodland Hills...someone got the one I wanted, the dual cabinet.

But for $85 - if I was nearer, I'd drive and pick it up.

This is going to get sold quickly.

thought I'd tack this on here

I was a Television Buyer for a SF based department store chain in the late 70's/early 80's and RCA was a big account. I don't remember this set but I'm sure it was pricey. The contemporary cabinet is really beautiful. I'd hate to see something like this gutted and filled with Two Buck Chuck and cheap wine glasses.

If only Seattle was closer to me as well-like that tubed 2 peice Maganavox Hi-Fi system. The RCA TV in that lovely case-you mean the seller is suggesting you "slide" out the old TV and "Slide" in your new flastscreen?crazy! At best would KEEP the old set in the case and put the new flatscreen on the wall above the case-so you could use the top compartment to hold your DVD-BluRay player and other newer boxes-Wonder if the RCA had a video input-then you could use the video out for the RCA set.On the Magnavox 2 cabinet unit-wonder if it was originally mono and the unit converted to stereo at a later time?

I bought that Imperial Armoire (Ramona) that was offered on Craigslist. Now I just have to find a way to move it to my place without killing myself or any bystanders.

Recycler - I'm glad you bought it, but don't try to kill yourself. Use the available Hispanic community -( they're always standing around here waiting for work. )

Speaking of stereos, someone donated a Magnavox (French Provincial) Stereo Console at the thrift today - perfect condition 10/10 in appearance. I didn't buy it - only $35 - as I have no room. Ten feet away were two AR9 Speakers -ginormous speakers that were available for $125 for both(excellent, no damage on exterior)..but they were as big a a small refrigerator, together.

Please post photos of your unit, after it's setup.

Congrats on your purchase. I was so frustrated seeing that Imperial Armoire listed over and over again at a lower price each time with no buyers. Several times I was tempted to buy it but I have no room for two of them. The seller and his brother helped me load mine on my F150 pickup but I took it off, brought it in the house and reassembled it all by myself, honestly. I used my hydraulic lift table which cost me $100 including shipping. Originally purchased to move my pinball machines, the table weighs a ton but was well worth it. I used the truck's tie-down ratchet straps (very cheap) to secure it to the table. The lift table made putting the armoire back together a snap.

That's a very fine stereo. The paper and foam on the woofers is specially coated. The midrange horns are designed to compensate for the closeness of the stereo channels. Those two metal reels on the recorder sell on ebay for more than you paid for the entire unit.

As an FYI, I bought an inexpensive A/B selector and installed it on the recorder input which gave me an extra jack for a CD player.

the air-suspension speaker base was easy to move with the table

Mine is a slightly different style than yours. You'll need to install wood paneling and shag carpeting and look for a bell-bottom pants outfit to complete the look.

Ovrphil and Twintubedexter, thanks for the encouragement, and Twintubedexter, thanks for the advice. I will send photos of the Magnavox once it is installed, or photos of the shattered bits of it and/or myself "installed" at the foot of the stairs.

I know very little about vintage audio equipment (or, for that matter, ANY audio equipment), so I am sure I will be asking for lots of advice from you guys once the dust has settled. My hobby has been the restoration of antique furniture and clocks. Thanks again!

Twintubdexter ***- lov your unit..looks so nice in your place(Post# 530951 , Reply# 8 )

Recycler ***.... and in case you don't get the advice or think about it....when you do move anything heavy,
it wouldn't hurt to maybe, use one of those elastic back braces and knee supports...no hurt-a the plumbing!

You're getting good advice. Even though I really did move that into my house by myself 2 or 3 years ago I wouldn't try and do it again. Get plenty of help. My knee gave out 3 weeks ago and I fell on the tile floor in my bathroom. I went down like a ton of bricks (actually a little closer to half a ton) and slammed the back of my head on the floor. I couldn't move for 30 minutes. Now I'm sitting here with a broken fibula as a result of the fall and scooting around with a walker until it heals. The doctors agree I ruined my knee from moving heavy objects. Get your friends together and have a Magnavox Imperial Armoire moving party.

like Madonna said at the begining of "Vogue"..."what are you lookin at?"

My 1964 Magnavox I bought for $19.00 at Goodwill. Needs some work though... AM works fine. FM does not work. The record player only plays on 78 speed. It has a pretty good hum to it also. Someday I would like to get it going like new.
