Just picked up a GE HiFi-phono,amfm,12"woofer,about 5w amp-pretty decent condition, person i got it from said they tried it and it started smoking-do not know if this has across the line noise capacitor that might have been cooking off :) early 1950 date codes noticed.
2nd-admiral TV,pretty brown bakelite cabinet,all intact,early 1950 date codes.A neat early TV.
3rd-Philco HiFi phono-bad motor mounts, amp not working-a burnt in two large resistor noticed along with several "bumblebee"capacitors.Fairly big amp for what it is,perhaps 6-8w, and powered by two selenium rectifiers.Late 1954 date codes, might try to get this one working :)

As a now-retired professional of the consumer electronics service industry, and highly experienced in the restoration of such things, I'd like to know if cfz2882 has the required qualifications to do any servicing on those vintage pieces.
And yes, as donprohel has mentioned, some info such as model numbers of the equipment would be of help before any further helpful discussion is to take place.

#1,subjects badly positioned for photography at the moment, but pics coming soon since there is interest :)
#2,oh yeah,i know this stuff-got lots of this~1920-85,about 80 tube items: some of it is just historical items i do not need to work correctly, certain items get the full fix :) I have worked with this stuff since about 1980.Model #s will appear shortly-then pics :)
