The 5 extra days in a year of twelve 30-day months was to be called holiday week.
There was also talk of adding "End of the year day" that was NOT a day of the week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday...) beginning in the year 2000.
This way a certain date of the month (say someone's birthday) would always fall on the same day of the week, forever.
The reason February is a short month is that various Caesars (Julius, Augustus) took an extra day to stick it on THEIR month. Berfore Christianity MARCH was the beginning of the year as it was springtime. (Well sorry Australia, but north of the equator, anyway!) So one wanted March to come, and fast!
Hence
SEPT-ember was the 7th month
OCTO-ber was the 8th month.
NOV-ember was the 9th month
DEC-ember was the 10th month............
Christmas was made December 25th, because it is 8 days back from January 1,(you figure it out) and near (enought to)the Winter Solstice being the pagan: "Yule" holdiay.
