Hoover and Beko aswell

Hoover is doing a recall of potential fire on their NOFrost fridge freezers produced between week 34 2011 and week 34 2012 so the new ones details are in the link. Number of fridges is less than 100.000 (don't know the exact) because at the time, because of the crisis, cheaper models (without "no-frost") sold more.

Beko is having a recall of 400.000 fridge freezers because of the fire hazard that we all know about.
Beko is aswell having a recall of cookers that can cause poisoning with Carbon Monoxide which is released in heat because of some material that cooker is made of.
Beko is recalling condenser dryers because of a fire hazard.

This issue with dishwasher fires aired on both the ITV News at 1:30 and ITV News at 6:30 on Friday.

What I want to know, why all the media coverage now? The recall became apparent last year when we had ours seen to, we have one like in the second photo on the Mail page, and Bosch were very efficient, sending a man out within 4 days to repair the fault, it was also out that certain Hotpoint machines, made by Bosch, such as the DWF range(from the early 2000's), were at fault as well, which I believe was sorted as well as the BSH case.

What also shocked me was that there was no mention of Siemens & Neff, which also are big players in the dishwasher industry.

Bosch/Siemens/Neff/Hotpoint dishwashers, Beko fridge freezers/tumble dryers, Beko/Leisure gas cookers, Hoover fridge freezers, White Knight condenser dryers - what is going on in the appliance world in the last few years, obviously cutting costs covers part of it, but is it by so much that these disastrous events happen? That is the question...

Media coverage isn't particulary only because of Bosch, but because it's now getting a little bit too much.

It is because of the cheef of Fire Brigade made a press release that currently, there is too much potentaly dangerous appliances in that field

The thing that annoys me is BSH sent letters out to everyone affected, and all their information is as it should be.
BSH did everything right.

Yet no recall about Candy made washing machines with drum explosions, and no news about them??
I think if BSH had a problem with the washers exploding, they would recall.

Its the person on the news programmes fault, that they never bothered to register there dishwasher, which is clearly stated in the instruction manuals on guarantee card.
Ours wasn't affected.

I believe the recall originally was made in 2009! At least it was in the US. They made a big push again here last year as so many people hadn't had the recall work done.

I have one of these' dishwashers. It's been fine since it was installed in 2004 or 05. The serial number is the affected one but I've not bothered to get then to check it. I just don't use it when out or asleep.

When you buy an

appliance in the UK or EU don't you have to register it to get the warranty started? That information is what creates the connection between homeowner and manufacturer. Over here when a recall is issued the Dept of Consumer affairs usually posts all types of machine on its website so you can quickly attend to the errant appliance. 

 

How does the recall system work for automobiles?

I can only say something about the Netherlands. The retailer is the one you have a business relations ship with when you buy something, not the manufacturer. So you have to contact the retailer if there is an issue with an appliance. The receipt is enough to prove the warranty period. Some people call the manufacturer directly, that is OK too. The receipt is also proof for the warranty.

In some cases you can fill in something on a website, but I don't know anyone who ever did that.

I can't remember where I read it but I am sure it was something that someone said on here that led me to investigate elsewhere and discovered that my Bosch was one that is affected (it was actually my mother's machine but when I cleared her house after she died, I did a swap as mine was much older. I think I emailed Bosch immediately via the relevant site and they called me the following day. I provided the serial numbers they needed and got confirmation the machine was one of the ones with the 'problem'. A guy came out within 3 days and replaced the unit behind the control panel in about 5 mins and that was that. No big drama.

yes maybe the big explosion was the Hoover what ever model it was letting rip on its final spin, mind could have been an indesit or a candy..........hmm the plot thickens..........but as certain Beko products have turned out to be killers already i reckon the police should be questioning the Beko appliances ;-)
