Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Both my Mom and my aunt had Westinghouse ovens exactly like this one. My Aunt Imogene’s home was built in 1956 and the last home we lived in before my Dad died in ‘62 was also built in ‘56. Our Westinghouse built in electric stove tops and ovens were identical. And both the stovetops and ovens were excellent. The oven was very large for a built in oven in the 50’s.

I knew someone several years ago that had one like that, except the color was Mint Aqua. He said the house was built in 1956.

These ovens use the same door and oven liner as the 1953 - 1957 Imperial 30 ranges, however the handle is different. As Eddie mentioned, they are much larger than most built-in ovens of that time, which were usually 24". This unit would require at least a 33" wide cabinet.

Were very popular in my hometown, mainly because we had two very popular Westinghouse dealers, Westinghouse ovens are very even heating and good baking .

They are great performing ovens, but having had one of the 40 WH ranges with the giant oven and a few Frigidaire ranges and built in ovens, I can tell you that the Frigidaire ovens are unrivaled for capacity between the height and depth. I regularly was able to put 4 Bundt pans in the full size/master oven, two on each shelf, and two pans in the companion oven. The lack of depth in the WH oven meant that for all of its size, it only held two Bundt pans. Where it really excelled was in holding loaf pans. It would hold 6 pans on each shelf which came in handy when baking zucchini bread. Unfortunately, when the range with the giant oven was introduced in 1954 and advertised with two racks full of bread pans, baking a week's worth of bread at home was a vanishing procedure.
