Installing a new door gasket on this beauty. Antique appliances.com had the match. Has anyone ever taken on this task because how important is it to join or weld the corners or can I just silicone them ?

We replaced the gaskets on our 1949 Hotpoint fridge. If I remember correctly we did silicone the corners.
By the way, that is a nice looking fridge. Is that the original color or did you have it painted?

Yes, It's the original color. I cleaned and waxed the cabinet to a high shine.
