hi all cant hurt to ask and hunt right. have a ( i think ) 58 kelvy washer that i have had for a few years and was able to finally find a wash tub boot a while back for her and all was good for a short while. but oh no then on spin out it was water fall city under the machine. took it apart and the lower boot clamp had come off so re did that was fine for one wash then the next was water fall city. so its been sitting for a long while and since i know the outer tub boot is hard as a rock i thought i could retro fit something.. but oh no.. it looks pretty good but the upper clamp wont sit right and there is a carbon face seal in there too that is bad also. but i gave it a try and of course water fall city... so does anyone have any idea as to a source for new old stock or what might actually work?? so im on the hunt for the outer tub boot and carbon face seal. any info would be so awesome

Late 50s Kelvinator automatic washer parts

Post pictures of that boot and the seal especially if you can I might have something around if I come across it.

There’s old Kelvinator parts are pretty rare I have one of the last orbital Kelvinator is like that it’s probably about a 1966 machine

Hey Chris! I went back through my archives and found additional photos of the boots and seal assemblies from my ‘59. When you say the upper boot clamp won’t sit right - are you referring to the upper clamp on the lower boot, or the single clamp on the upper boot and seal assembly?

That upper boot/seal would be tricky considering it’s spring loaded. If a similar sized carbon face could be found you may be able to find a way to wrap it with a rubber inner tube and possibly reuse the spring.

thanks ben

thanks ben for the pics i didnt realize till i had it back together that i didnt take pics. but yea thats it. i used a ge boot that was close in size and put that over the orig boot. the orig boot pretty much fell apart. the lower clamp fits well the upper clamp is not wanting to sit right but seemed snug. . its gonna have to sit for a while so i can think and see what i can come up with. its been a long time since i had one apart like that and im pooped.
