The weather on Monday was finally warm enough to work in the garage without gloves, so I figured it would be a good time to test the 1964 Frigidaire motor attached to the repaired original 1958 pump housing. First step, get the beastie right side up again!

The pump mount collar seemed to be holding and no sudden cracks developed. Most encouraging. Time to throw in a bucket of hot water!!

Apart from a minor drip at the rear of the pump mounting plate, it looked surprisingly good!! I decided to get really adventurous and try running water through the spray-tube...
And by golly, it worked fine!! I briefly peeked at the water flow inside and that spray tube was doing it’s thing! I ran it for while, drained out the water then tried another bucketful. Second test was just fine!! I was turning cartwheels on the driveway, I was so thrilled. Good thing we don’t have any neighbours in view of the house in Ogden...
Next,... I will do another water test on the weekend and make sure I got all the drips, no matter how small. Once that’ s done – I will FINALLY get to re-assemble the machine! AND it will be turquoise when it is re-launched. I had to, didn’t I?? LOL

Ain't that the truth, Pete!! I really lucked out here - thank goodness the pump plates for the spray-tube dishwashers stayed the same shape. Otherwise, I'd be parting this one out too! I can't wait to start putting it back together - hope I remember what goes where... LOL
 
Progress report

So, this weekend, it was warm enough to continue working on the Frigidaire dishwasher outside. I had noticed a bit of a drip from the water supply tube at the rear of the dishwasher during the last round of testing. No wonder - the rubber tube had completely deteriorated!

However, a supply of spare plumbing parts provided a reasonable solution!! It is pretty amazing what you can do with repair parts for a toilet... LOL

I did a couple of additional tests with the pump running in 'wash' mode and I have to admit that I am stunned that this 'jury-rigged' door gasket that I put into the Frigidaire actually holds! I have since gotten my paws on an original door gasket but I am not sure if I should change this one or hold on the to spare in case the one on the pink 62 goes bad... Decisions, decisions!!

And there is still a tiny bit of 'water ooze' coming from somwhere around the pump... You can barely see it, but I have to be sure this baby doesn't leak even a trace of water vapour or Hubby will want to take it to the crusher! Trouble is, I really don't feel like taking that pump apart for a third time!

I think the problem may be resolved by adding some silcone here - if I can seal up any gap between the tub gasket and the pump housing, I may be OK... I'll be letting the tub dry out this week and see if that solves the problem next week.

And for anyone who has ever wondered what the spray-tube wash action looked like... I couldn't resist doing this short video!
