After 6 months of use, our 65 LK washer stopped agitating. From reading the threads posted here, sounds like it needs a full rebuild. I'm comfortable disassembling basket and tub. Is this something a novice should attempt? I really like this washer and hate to see it in this state. Suggestions?

Did it stop spinning as well? If it doesn’t spin or agitate and the wig wag isn’t moving at all then the transmission needs oil.

Since the tub was full of water and not agitating, I hit the Spin Only button and it drained and spun as normal. There's always been a slight leak during agitation, so I put a drip pan under washer. There was more water than usual in the drip pam n when it ceased agitating.

The spring or something broke in the transmission causing it to not agitates. There are experts who know more about mechanical issues with the Whirlpool built belt drive washers than I do and I know a little bit about them such as the mechanical layout and functions of the transmission but when it comes to troubleshooting them John Lefever (combo52) and Gordon (Kenmoreguy64) are very good at diagnosing mechanical issues with them.
