A while back I posted that my '65 Tourquoise Maytag dryer was making an aweful racket and come to find out the bushing in the "reduction pulley" had completely chewed itself up. Finally tracked one down after searching and calling about 30 different warehouses and now I have a question before everything goes back together.
Does the bushing and shaft need to be oiled or greased before re-assembly? I know the slide that the shaft is attached to needs to be greased but not sure about the bushing in the pulley. Here is a picture of the pulley.

YES IT DOES!

Or at least, yes it should, anyway. QSD Dan and RedCarpetDrew can confirm this, but you want to use "turbine oil" (sorry I forgot the brand name) to lube it during reassembly. I'm told it's available in hardware stores (Home Depot, etc). I need to go find some myself!

I hope this helps!

YES IT DOES!

Thanks Kevin! I thought it should be but wasn't for sure what to use on it. Already have a bottle of turbine oil around somewhere so that shouldn't be a problem. Thanks again for the info!

Keep the old parts...

...as they may be able to be refurbished in the future. If you had to call 30 suppliers to find that pulley, that is a bad sign for HOH parts!
