Something a little more retro ...

I've never seen a flight attendant SO excited about her pantyhose!

Ads

I thought the ads were great NYC writer... I wish they made them like that now!

Hi Al, I got really excited when I found the ad, Yes I spotted the Bellings, I think the built in one was the same as Hesters?! Am I correct??
I will find a local Belling one day to call my own!

I wish these type of Ovens would make a come-back, they were so stylish! Tricity and Belling should really take a good hard look at their designs from this era!

Yes, a few years ago I wanted to buy a new spiral ring cooker with double oven but I don't think such a thing exists and the cookers I saw were flimsy junk. I have gone off ceramic hobs since the Tricity one I had cracked for no reason.

Spot makes and models

The second advert showed a few glimpses of a Creda Jackson Topline. Jackson was a cooker manufacturer in their own right for many years before coming under the Creda umbrella.
The Jackson Topline was a superior cooker and was my favourite ever to cook on. Parents bought it in 1980 or 1981 and I know it was very expensive but worth it!

I think I saw other Creda's in the adverts - a Concept maybe?

The thing is these cookers in some cases were more expensive then than we expect to pay now so in real terms alot more expensive but then again build quality was generally superior in my opinion!

to fido and Xanx22

Hi Fido, Im sorry to hear that your ceramic hob cracked... did you get it fixed? I like the look of the spiral ring elements, my parents had a hotpoint electric cooker in the early 80s and that was a good cooker!

Hi Xanx22, My neighbour had a Jackson Topline and it was a very stylish cooker, she had it from new and did say that at the time it was very expensive, but it was still going strong!
I liked the Belling format slide in cooker in the early 80s, I wanted my parents to get one when they got a new kitchen but it was a bit too much money at the time. I loved the styling of them and still think they look way better than the newer versions and like you say the build quality would have been far superior!

Thanks for your replies ;-)
