Hi all, I'm thinking to buy one as for some reasons my dryer always tends to go backward...probably time afte time with small movements while I load it or someone pass by and push it, at the end I always have to pull the dryer forward as it got too close the wall and hose gets strangled...
So this thing would resolve any problem....
My concerns are that being an extendible thing it would lett pass air in the extender space  and in the hose attachement to the dryer....
Do someone have one? How are your thoughts about?
Of course it allows space saving and avoid concerns about hose being smashed plus gaining some extra space...just want to know if this thing works fine and is worth the money it costs.
Thanks

Ok thanks, that was my concern about...but duct tape would resolve the issue for the extension thng, you're right! How about the attechement to the dryer outlet? I dont see clamps or something and I'm corcened it would be too loose... how did you tight yours?

Found one for less surfng the web...... 19.95...is a fair price.

I use this same item adjusted to its shortest possible length.  It is the only venting I need as the outlet is right behind the dryer, so the periscope makes a direct connection at both ends.  I haven't had any problems with lint escaping, probably because the complete overlap of the two halves of the plenum serves to prevent it, along with distance to the vent being so short.  In my situation no taping was necessary, but with the periscope fully extended, taping tightly would be a must.

I have used one of these before, with a very short duct length, and no taping was necessary. I did not experience any leaking of dust or lint behind the appliances. The space behind the dryer was so limited that there was no taping at that joint either. The duct-to-dryer connection was simply a friction fit, without any problems.

Been There, Done That, Threw It Away

Yes, those things do allow one to push a dryer closer to the wall and so forth, but am here to tell you they leak lint and dust like a sieve. Even after duct taping every single seam, nook and cranny dust still found a way out.

When the AEG arrived and one took the vent hose and periscope off the WP was amazed at how much lint had built up inside the periscope. That is why one threw the thing away as this could not have been good.

IIRC there are versions out there that are solid tubular steel or plastic, those would be a better bet if you wish to keep the amount of escaped dust to a minimum.

Thanks all for giving your advice on it.....
Not sure what I'll do.... I'm hopeful soon I will change home and move to our farm, the periscope is quite expensive to have shipped over here, and likely in the new house I will not need this...
Moreover..
I like the hose to be connected directly to the dryer also...but you know...extremis malis, extremis remedis...not sure why it "walks" toward the wall like this...but it happens, feets are levelled and everythng is okay..never experienced anything like this in the past.
The thing sure would be useful at the moment and would fix the issue now being dryer next to a passage (another reason why it probably gets pushed involountarily) and so would gain also a few extra inches, not reallly needed but good to be...
Looks like you have had different experiences about it... probably it depends from device to device... some simply don't leak, others don't if you tape them and others are just like sieves...

Still have to decide if get it or not...anyway, thanks alot for letting me know your opinions/experences.

Easier and cheaper option is

to use one length of dryer hose but place a block of wood behind the dryer to stop it getting pushed to the wall..

Hi Austin, well.... I was also thinking at putting something behind, initially I thought about flat bricks, but even a piece of wood would work fine..thank you for the suggestion! :)
Is just that since there were these devices allowing some extra inches I was thinking about getting one instead, and also I liked the idea as I think that would look more "tidy" and well ordered this way than having bricks or whatevr behind.
Launderess, thank you for suggestion, but my situation is pretty particular:
When we had the Zoppas dryer we used to have connected a semi rigid alluminum one, being the dryer vented vertically the hose would run along the height of the wall to the vent located on the top, on the upper part of the wall, in that occasion we experienced metallic strips along the white wall because of hose swinging around and being in strict contact with the wall...
The dyer is in the kitchen, in a corner next to the door going to the balcony, I have a piece of curtain that arrives just at the height of dryer controls, so hose is hided on purpose behnd it...but a metallic one would be visible in the day light even behind the white curtain while the white mimetize and is pretty much invisible...
Is just a matter of esthetic...
At the local hardware I've also found white painted semi-rigid hoses, but I think the problem of it swinging and staining the wall would remain as the varnish would soon wear off, we had the wall painted just last year and I don't want to get it stained again...moreover they're not as tough, in the eventuality they gets crushed you have to replace them as they would not return in the orginal shape like PVC does...
I know PVC white ones are not reccomended, but the hose is always under survelliance and I always make sure it's clean.
BTW, maybe it's just me, but I found the semi-rigid ones to collect more lint than plastic PVC ones (not a problem anyway as I can keep it on eye easily)...but may also be the Zoppas Dryer filter that didn't work as good as the others...what I know is that I used to find more lint in it than what I found while using PVC.
Anyway.....of course there're other solutions..I was just trying to get the best one for my case...
But considering all and the risk the one I get would be the leaking kind, I think I will simply opt for putting something behind it, moreover I'm hopeful to change home soon so I will likely don't use the periscope device for long time and sure not n the new house...not sure is worth the risk for what I'd cost me..we will see.
Thank you all! You've been very helpful.
