If this had happened here in the US there would have been a hundred angry posts to this thread already.

Perhaps it is that these gays are just Jews?

I think the lack of outrage has more to do with geography than religion. We're talking about the Middle East, which is a cesspool of brutal, repressive theocracies. Gay people may have it marginally better in Israel than in neighboring Islamic countries, but it's basically the same shit with a slightly different shovel: Judaism has a 3500 year history of gay bashing, while Islam has a 1400 year history of gay bashing. And the sad fact is, step across the border in any direction from Israel and you'll be arrested, jailed, possibly castrated and executed for being gay. So atrocities like this are hardly unexpected.

Also your generalization that "Judaism has a 3500 year history of gay bashing" is unfair and inaccurate.

Being gay has never once gotten in my way in the Jewish world.
However there are extremeists in every culture.

It's not inaccurate. They were pointing to "God's word" as they stoned gay people to death for 1500 years before the Christians came along.

I understand the level of toxicity and contempt you hold towards organized religion,and that is your right, but remember it is only YOUR OPINION not given FACT.

Steve, there's no point of debate about this. The directive to put homosexuals to death is there, in plain black and white for anyone to read.

I'm not saying all Jews or Christians are fundamentalists, only that the traditional and orthodox flavors of these religions have subscribed to and practiced these beliefs for thousands of years. Anyone who's done the research knows this to be true.

And for the record I have zilch against any organized religion that doesn't assume I'm sick or call for my death or punishment, simply because I prefer to cuddle with another man at night. I think that narrows it down to just Buddhism and Hinduism

I saw it on the news here in the Netherlands, didn't feel like reading this thread until now. A horror story! I agree with the spokesman of the 16 year old victim, it's beyond a gay issue, it's never right to fire a gun especially at innocent teenagers.

I hope indeed something good comes out of this, but whatever it is the price was too high.
