One of Hobart's least known areas of manufacturing was their entry, in the 1930s, into the manufactured home market. Names like Lustron are better known, but Hobart had a whole line of these homes. The homes generally faced a great deal of opposition because they concentrated labor in the factory. Local building codes often did not permit the homes, so they are comparatively rare. The Library got a book about them several years ago.
