I already mentioned these to Chestermike and Chris here in Oz. I managed to bring home 2 UK built Hoover front loader's from an old washer repairer here in Brisbane. He has 6 front load Hoover's in total and Nathan and I will end up with all them between us more than likely.

This first one is a Hoover 455 Model A3072.

I've only done a quick spin test of this machine and it works, will do a proper test soon.

Cheers
Leon

Hoover - Who Better!!

Congratulations Leon on your latest finds, its certainly turning up trumps with classic gems!!, the Hoover 455 is based on the 1970`s Hoover Matchbox range, a simple hot and cold fill, 740rpm spin and a 9lb washload, vitreous enamel drum inside and out, looks like it has the later control time from the electronic series though, interesting!!

Hoover Twosome

well done on getting two excellent machines from Hoover, the 3072 looks great in those colours, and of course the excellent 3060 both classic Hoover machines.
Suspension kits,Door boots (make sure you get the proud door model boot), pumps are all easily available over here.
The only difference with the 3060 doorboot is it will be grey and not black unless you are lucky to find some from a spares shop out there in Australia

You will have fun using these beauties

Congratulations
Gary

The A3060

was the first Hoover washing machines with the fast 1100rpm spin in 1978, it was the fastest of the era in front loaders from here...a great machine, many still in working condition, in fact Jon Lavamat picked one up last week from original ownerner and still in daily use!!

It has the 3 seperate spin speeds for fabric types 500rpm for delicates, 800rpm for woollens and 1100rpm for fats drying of cottens / towels etc...

Automatics

Although I think that I have seen the 455 style panel on machines here (exclusives - need Paul to confirm on that) it looks like the 455 was made specifically for Australia as it has a lower rated heater in accordance with Aus 10amp sockets. Made in February 1977 as well, long after the the "matchbox" series had been superceeded. It would be interesting to know if it has the earlier programming of that current in 1977.

I wonder if the 3060 was taken out by someone emigrating, as it would need 13amp supply, made on Feb 1979 - 2 years after the 455

Great finds!

Al

Hoover Panel

Al by the date of manufacture for Aus, it looks like the morphing of the matchbox series fascia and vitreous drum / innards etc with the timer of the electronic 800 series...wonder if they where using up additional supplies before full production in 75 of the silver electronic 800`s?

Heres a pic from (Calling Matchbox!!) Pauls library of the matchbox styling and fascia!!
